Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a part-time disability services coordinator to work approximately 10-15 hours per week during the day to assist students who self-identify as having a documented disability by reviewing documentation and determining, coordinating and communicating reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Develops a plan of service and provides accommodations for students with disabilities
  • Monitors the effectiveness of accommodations
  • Provides hands-on technical assistance to students with disabilities
  • Maintains records and correspondence
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in disability studies, education, counseling, social work, rehabilitation services or other relevant field
  • At least one year of experience that includes K-12 or college-level learning disability services, learning disability assessment, and/or ADA/Section 504 and 508 compliance, including experience providing advocacy and counseling to persons with disabilities, assessing student's documentation of disability and prescribing accommodations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laws protecting persons with disabilities such as the ADA and Section 504/508 of Rehabilitation Act
  • Excellent computer, organizational, problem-solving, human relations and verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual English/Creole

Supplemental Information

This is a temporary position with a starting hourly rate likely ranging from $30.87 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience, and does not include benefits. This position will work a variable schedule Monday-Friday during the day, approximately 10-15 hours per week.
