Job Status: Full Time 

Job Description:  This position will serve as the QED Navy HM&E Specialist, Nuclear for a U.S. Navy contract.  The QED Navy HM&E Specialist, Nuclear will provide technical advice, assess propulsion plant information, conduct trend analysis, assess the impact of equipment casualty conditions and alterations, coordinate with other subject matter experts, and create guidance and requirements for Carrier readiness. 

Job Requirements/skill sets:  

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience and fluent use of Microsoft Products.
  • Prior United States Navy (USN) active duty Nuclear Enlisted Rating or Nuclear assigned Officer preferred. CVN specific Reactor experience is required for this position.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of shipboard air conditioning plants.
  • Prior DLCPO and/or WCS experience, onboard a CVN preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PPLAN/NOSIS/Naval Reactors technical data sources.
  • Prior experience with the planning and execution during CVN major availabilities.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with technical coordination of the following installed or proposed HM&E ship systems including repairs, alterations, assessments, inspections and casualty reports: propulsion plant machinery and boilers, auxiliary machinery and support equipment (except ALRE), hull and piping systems and cargo/weapons elevator systems.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in design improvement, tests, evaluations and new developments in HM&E areas.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with coordinating with military technical agencies and their various field agencies on identification and resolution of technical problems in the hull, mechanical and electrical areas of aircraft carriers.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in HM&E modernization packages for aircraft carriers.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with planning, development, execution and analyzing a budget in support of naval engineering programs including new  technology developments and life-cycle maintenance cost reducing initiatives, monitoring budget performance, and tracking cost avoidance results as applied to naval engineering maintenance enhancing programs.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in technical, management, development, and integration experience with aircraft carrier HM&E nuclear requirements occurring within the last five (5) years

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in HM&E related field and a minimum of 4 years CVN Reactor Operations experience, or an Associate’s degree in HM&E related field and a minimum of 8 years CVN Reactor Operations experience , or high school graduate with at least 10 years of CVN Reactor Operations experience.

Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access:  U.S. citizenship required and a SECRET Clearance required. Must be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
