The Discovery Immunology department is seeking an early career scientist who is eager to grow their career in industry at our Discovery Immunology group in Cambridge. This position is part of a growing team of immunologists who are focused on developing new therapies for autoimmune, atopic and inflammatory diseases. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn and apply their immunology skills to screen for new targets, develop assays to explore mechanisms of action for therapeutic targets, and support program teams as they advance programs toward clinical development.
The successful candidate will be an individual contributor with deep scientific curiosity, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work well independently and as part of a collaborative team, and ability to work on several projects simultaneously. Hands-on expertise and deep knowledge in immunology is required, and expertise in autoimmunity, tolerance, and/or inflammation is preferred.
Key responsibilities:
Identify, develop, and deliver cellular assays to support therapeutic target evaluation and progress of Discovery Immunology programs.
Work together with matrixed teams to determine which key scientific questions are priorities and develop ways to address those questions.
Identify new areas for professional growth through studying current literature and participating in team meetings.
Support a "one team" mindset as an active participant or leader in department activities, working groups, and other initiatives.
Required qualifications:
Graduate training (PhD) in immunology with up to 3 years industry experience. Strong understanding of the field, preferably with track record of first author publication/s (published/under review).
Skilled in basic cellular biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, mRNA quantification, Western blot, flow cytometry, & multiplex cytokine assessments.
Proven ability to think critically, rapidly respond to challenges, be adaptable to change, and communicate problems and results in a timely manner.
Preferred qualifications:
Prior experience with autoimmunity, inflammation, and/or allergic diseases
Prior experience with human cell culture.
Prior experience with mining genomic and other datasets to build target identification and validation packages.
