General Description of the Job Class
Provide leadership for Supply Chain Linen Operations across Duke Health System.
This position is responsible for the execution of linen supply chain strategies; linen optimization of logistics, synchronizing supply and demand, measuring performance, embedding leading practice and ensuring continuous improvement. The Director, Linen Operations will ensure the delivery of high-quality laundry and linen services for Duke University Health System enterprise. This includes overseeing contracted providers of laundry and linen to ensure all quality standards and all regulatory standards are being met.
The Director, Linen Operations will lead the optimization and standardization of linen and linen software tools across the enterprise to include methodology and strategies for the distribution and logistics of linen. The Director, Linen Operations will support and implement the linen vision and strategy as developed in collaboration with the Senior Director Supply Chain Site Operations and Logistics, ensure linen practices adhere to industry standards and best practices, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and align with and support the Duke Health's strategic initiatives. This role will work closely with supply chain site operations, clinical leaders and support services leaders to ensure high customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Provide leadership for linen supply chain managers relative to linen replenishment and logistics of linen distribution.
Director, Supply Chain Linen Operations will be accountable for all linen operations across the health system.
Responsible for driving and maintaining industry leading processes and standards to improve quality and efficiencies for the operation. Responsible for effective training programs to meet TJC, OSHA and other regulatory agencies requirements
Plan, coordinate and administer the financial, administrative and technical operations of linen supply chain. Supplier relations, contract and price negotiations in collaboration with procurement.
Direct decision making responsibilities of candidate selection of new supply chain managers in relation to linen distribution.
Facilitate and lead Linen Committees and Linen Task Forces.
Serve as linen operational and technical resource representing supply chain.
This role will serve as decision maker to drive and change operations based on the needs of the business. These decisions may include but not limited to DUHS, external vendors, Duke's community/regional response, etc. Serve as a point of escalation for complex or systematic issues for internal and external key stakeholders and the supply chain team that is responsible for linen order and replenishment.
Negotiate resolution for issues in relation to linen.
Manage and measure key metrics with key linen service providers to ensure federal and local regulations in relation to linen reprocessing and handling as well as contract adherence.
Work with supply chain managers responsible for linen distribution to ensure appropriate staffing model, tools and resources to efficiently and effectively complete supply chain linen daily duties and meet commitments.
Model and foster continuous improvement mindset with supply chain teams. Identify opportunities for efficiency, elimination of waste and risk mitigation.
Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects safe, honest, ethical, and professional behavior which support the vision and value of the organization.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business/healthcare; Master's Degree strongly preferred. Degree in logistics preferred.
Experience
7 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or healthcare. 2 of the 7 years of experience must be in supply chain/logistics and 2 of the 7 years of experience must be in a management capacity.
