Description

The IT Business Consultant / Systems Engineer provides demand management, business consultancy, project management and information technology-related services to assigned business clients. In addition, the individual in this role will demonstrate program management and domain architecture capabilities. Through ongoing consultation with business clients, you will identify and analyze business needs, influences and negotiates scope and requirements, and provide innovative recommendations for process changes and/or technology-enabled solutions. This person leads and manages IT projects from beginning to end, which includes defining project scope and deliverables that support business goals and strategies. In this role you will be responsible for engaging clients in analyzing, prioritizing and governing demand for IT services; accountable for all such IT services; and responsible for ensuring that projects realize their intended Business benefits. Successful projects are expected to contribute to the overall performance of the Business.

This role is based out of our Ridgefield, CT location with a flexible hybrid onsite work schedule 2-3 days per week and as needed to support the business.

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $53,000 to $183,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • You will be part of an innovative product team, working in a scientific environment with agile processes and in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • You will influence IT-related business decisions through a consistent and direct engagement of local and global clients at all levels in the required business domain.
  • As the key contact for assigned business partners, you will act as a vital interface, collaborating with internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure alignment and smooth communication.
  • As an expert for existing applications and systems and their underlying architecture you will coordinate system related tasks within IT, business and vendors. This includes development, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of those systems.
  • Take on a dynamic role where you will optimize and secure our data systems, implement impactful configuration changes, and drive continuous improvements to increase the value generation out of our data
  • Empower our teams by providing technical support and training, managing seamless change processes, and delivering actionable insights that shape strategic decision-making across the company

Requirements

  • Good background in Linux administration, container and cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, EDP/Openshift) as well as backend engineering skills (e.g. programming, scripting, DB technologies)
  • Creative mindset and analytical skills to develop innovative solutions and keen to get a deep understanding of business processes within the Research and Development organization
  • Team player and networker with intercultural skills with a solution-oriented working behavior and the ability to negotiate and convince others, even in a larger group of stakeholders
  • Experience to deal with complex interdependent tasks in a global fast-moving and agile environment
  • Very good presentation and communication skills at professional level in English (verbally and in writing)
  • Work effectively and independently or as a team member, act proactively with a strong sense of accountability and responsibility, and have a passion for working in a virtual, international, multicultural and diversity environment.

Requirements for this great opportunity include; 

IT Business Consultant I

Bachelor,s/Master's degree (or equivalent) Progressive IT and business experience of up to 5 years is preferred. 

Systems Engineer

Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field with 0-2 years of experience; or relevant IT experience and a minimum of 2 years experience.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • Experience with data analysis and chemistry is a plus
