The Role
Are you an experienced technologist who is passionate about technology skills? Are you looking for an opportunity to develop and drive a large, highly visible, cross-business unit strategy? The VP, Technology Skills Strategy is an important leadership role within the Enterprise Technology (ET) HR Team reporting to the Head of Learning and Development, Enterprise Technology. In this role, you’ll have two primary areas of responsibility:
- Developing and implementing a technology skills strategy across Fidelity
- Managing a small team to execute the strategy an enable strategic workforce management through inventorying, assessing, and developing technology skills

We’re looking for an experienced technologist to help our business leaders define the technology skills we need, measure the skills we have, and develop skills for the future. In this role, you’ll operate as the technology skills expert, influencing approaches, strategies, and programs across Fidelity.
To accomplish this work, you’ll develop relationships with teams across Fidelity and work directly with senior leaders. You’ll also partner closely with learning and development, talent management, and other HR and business colleagues across Fidelity.
The Expertise and Skills You Have
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in technology roles
- Direct work experience as a software engineer, architect, or a related technology role in a large-scale technology organization
- Experience developing and implementing a large-scale strategy
- Demonstrated thought leadership in technology skills assessment and development with a strong point of view on current trends
- Extensive experience working on complex projects, managing multiple stakeholders, and influencing senior leaders
- Strong data analysis skills, including experience using data to inform and justify a strategy
- Digital fluency and the ability to learn emerging technology quickly
- Advanced understanding of the technology business and an ability to link HR activities to key technology business needs and initiatives
- Demonstrated success in collaborative leadership, working with senior leaders and internal partners
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive presentation skills

- Define and drive the technology skills strategy
- Serve as the technology skills expert, consulting with leaders across Fidelity
- Oversee the execution of technology skills development as a component of strategic workforce planning
- Stay current on external and internal trends to make data-driven strategic recommendations regarding technology skills
- Act as a trusted and credible partner to leaders, anticipating needs and proactively recommending solutions
- Implement clear measurements to assess impact of implemented programs and solutions

Fidelity's hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Having the majority of our associates work onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture.
