Summary
This position is located in the Nursing Department of the Standing Rock Service Unit, Fort Yates, ND. The purpose of this position is to lead, administer, supervise, and manage the Emergency Department and to participate and collaborate as a member of Nursing Leadership and Management for the SRSU. The incumbent is the first line supervisor of the Emergency Department. This position is primarily clinical in nature.

- Supervision of staff is accomplished by planning, direction and performance evaluation of staff to ensure quality of safe patient care.
- Plans and adjusts work assignments of operations to meet organizational objectives, priorities, deadlines, and standards of care
- Performs nursing care duties by participating in advanced cardiac, trauma, pediatric and neonatal life support. Maintains clinical competence and expertise in the Emergency Department.
- Communicates and participates in a multidisciplinary Quality Improvement program for the unit.

Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) Grade LevelIn addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or
- At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-11: one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor degree, or master degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples Include: Assessment plan, implement, direct and evaluate the care of patients in a hospital facility setting; implement accreditation requirements; supervise subordinate staff; prepare work performance plans, schedules and evaluate work performance of subordinate staff; as a supervisor initiate and submit required information to fill vacancy position, promote subordinate staff, give advice, counsel or instruction to subordinate staff on administrative matters, hear and resolve complaints form staff, effect disciplinary measures when needed.

I have successfully completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
