We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Store Support Team Interns for the Summer of 2025! Fleet Feet’s 10-week summer internship program provides a hands-on opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. Our internship experience emphasizes professional development (think impactful work and stretch assignments), mentorship, networking, skills development, and on-the-job training across two key areas. While the internship is remote, interns will travel twice to Fleet Feet’s headquarters in North Carolina. Local interns can opt for a hybrid schedule. 

Fleet Feet's paid summer internship program is dedicated to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce by actively seeking out and engaging with promising individuals from underrepresented communities. Responsibilities

While crafting our internship program experience, our goal was to hear directly from you, the intern, on what areas you want to focus on and learn more about. Please choose your top 3 departments from the list below, that you'd like to focus on during your immersive rotational internship experience and include these in your application in order of preference.  Since you will only have 2 rotations, we will do our best to ensure your 2 rotations are your top 2 preferences. 

  • Franchise Operations & Development - This team drives Fleet Feet’s expansion into new markets nationwide. They focus on identifying physical locations, handling lease agreements, building and renovating stores, and exploring growth opportunities. They also provide ongoing coaching and guidance to franchisees throughout their journey.
  • Digital (e-Commerce) - Responsible for managing our e-commerce platform and engaging customers digitally, ensuring a seamless online shopping experience. Areas of focus include Digital Strategy (SEO), Digital Advertising, and Digital Supply Chain Operations (online fulfillment).
  • Finance - Oversees Fleet Feet’s revenue streams and expenses, while helping company-owned stores plan and forecast for future growth.
  • Human Resources (HR) - Partners with managers and employees to support recruitment, benefits, payroll, retention, and much more
  • Information Technology (IT) - Ensures the smooth operation of network systems and data security, supporting both our Retail Stores and Store Support Team  
  • Marketing - Manages Fleet Feet's national brand presence through graphic design, newsletters, email campaigns, marketing assets, social media, blog content, and podcasts.
  • Purchasing - Responsible for buying and merchandising footwear, apparel, and accessories across all company-owned locations.
  • Retail Experience & Education - Provides training and education to our retail store employees, ensuring they deliver the best customer experience.
  • Sales Operations - Works closely with company-owned stores to develop local marketing strategies, boost sales, and engage customers.
  • Vendor Management - Collaborates with vendor partners to create opportunities that drive sales for both Fleet Feet and its vendors.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university undergraduate program
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for retail and community engagement.
  • Curious, dedicated, and driven individuals.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during internship dates

Additional Requirements:  Position requires occasional moving around with light (1-10lbs.) carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling.  The position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office equipment, etc.  The position is mostly sedentary and requires the employee to have close visual acuity to perform job requirements.  The position requires frequent communication with team members and repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and/or fingers while constantly utilizing a computer. This position is located within an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
