Overview 

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking an intern to support Science and Regulatory Advocacy (SRA) Department initiatives, activities, and priorities. The Intern will broadly assist members of the SRA Department in supporting the department’s policy and advocacy efforts. 

The intern will gain experience in a wide range of issues. Examples include health policy, Medicare, Medicaid, State and Federal issues, innovative medicines, commercial health benefit design, intellectual property, the regulatory and legislative process, and working with and building coalitions in the U.S. and abroad.  

This is a paid position.  This internship will start in January and the intern will work 37.5 hours per week for a 3-month term.

Responsibilities

The Intern’s responsibilities may include:  

  • Assist in research on U.S. and/or ex-U.S. scientific and regulatory policy issues and proposals;
  • Support the evaluation of science and regulatory policy proposals;
  • Research and track regulatory activity and issues;
  • Attend and support coordination of internal meetings; 
  • Attend external meetings and provide summaries; and
  • Participate in science-based writing and editing of talking points, policy papers, backgrounders, presentations and other publications.

Requirements:   

  • Current or recent graduate student with an interest in health/life sciences policy;  
  • Ability to communicate science and regulatory concepts both verbally and in writing; 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite;  
  • Proficient organizational and project management skills;   
  • Strong desire to build relationships/collaboration skills;  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to strategically and creatively process information; and
  • Curiosity to stay abreast of current industry trends.

Potential Salary

  • $25 - $35 per hour. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
