Overview
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking an intern to support International Advocacy Department initiatives, activities, and priorities. The Intern will broadly assist members of the International Department, supporting the department’s policy team and advocacy efforts.
Department Description:
PhRMA’s International department coordinates and supports advocacy around the world, while working closely with other national and regional trade associations. The international advocacy program focuses on:
- Government pricing and reimbursement policies
- Strengthening intellectual property protection
- Regulatory reform
- Expanding information to patients in priority countries around the world
This is a paid position. This internship will start in January and the intern will work up to 25 hours per week for a 3-month term.
Responsibilities
The Intern’s responsibilities may include:
- Assisting in the measurement of access to new medicines in several countries.
- Assisting in the measurement of access to pharmaceutical R&D.
- Researching HTA and pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement policies.
- Researching the impact of various cost-containment policies around the world.
- Attending external meetings and provide summaries.
- Participating in science-based writing and editing of talking points, policy papers, and reports.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current or recent graduate or undergraduate student with an interest in health/life sciences policy.
- Ability to communicate science and regulatory concepts both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient organizational and project management skills.
- Strong desire to build relationships/collaboration skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to strategically and creatively process information.
- Curiosity to stay abreast of current industry trends.
Potential Salary
- $25 - $35 per hour based on the level of degree program.
