Who will you be working with?
The Friction + Rubber Product Line designs and manufactures high-friction and low-friction composition products, sintered brake shoes, specialty shoes, disc brake linings, and rubber products for freight, locomotive, transit, and industrial applications.
How will you make a difference?
The Sourcing Manager owns the supplier relationship and is responsible for identifying, evaluating and managing the supply base. Key responsibilities include: market research, analyzing costs, developing alternate suppliers, negotiating contracts, maintaining supplier KPIs including On Time Delivery, and Quality Objectives.
What do we want to know about you?
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in economics, engineering, business administration, statistics, manufacturing, or management is required.
- Experience: a minimum of seven years’ experience in purchasing, logistics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree economics, business administration, statistics, manufacturing, or management
- Certifications from CPSM, CPIM, SPSM and CSCP
- Experience in an aftermarket goods manufacturing environment

What will your typical day look like?
- Support fulfillment efforts to effectively procure needed materials and services to support operations.
- Select reliable sources of supply, engaging complimentary suppliers and working with key suppliers to improve the value delivered to the organization. When appropriate work with internal functions to ensure requirements and seek assistance in evaluation of new suppliers.
- Oversee the preparation of tenders, proposals and the negotiation of contracts. Maintaining programs for vendor analysis and cost reduction thereby improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement process.
- Support value engineering cost reduction and lead-time reductions with internal functions (i.e. Engineering Manufacturing, Quality), and the suppliers. Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service and technology.
- Maintain a strategic sourcing plan that defines, among other things, market and business analysis, product roadmaps, supplier capabilities and annual / quarterly strategic business objectives.
- Maintain personal knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape.
- Provides category and process expertise to create and execute sourcing strategies and lead supplier management for defined categories. Manages key sourcing process steps including opportunity assessment, strategy development, data analysis, supplier negotiation, award recommendations, and supplier contract execution.
- Negotiates value from multiple perspectives:
- Purchase price and contractual terms and conditions
- Total acquisition cost
- Prioritization and timing considerations
- Alternative solutions and/or materials

- General office environment: Works generally at a desk in a well-lit, air-conditioned cubicle/office, with moderate noise levels
- Ability to sit for hours at a time, viewing computer monitor and using telephone on a constant basis; some walking and standing relative to interaction with other personnel
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items weighing 10 – 15 pounds
- Occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts and areas where equipment/product reaches high temperatures is possible.
- Occasional exposure to dusty and fragrant conditions, varying temperature levels, and high noise environments is possible.
Travel will be up to 10%
