Aquent Studios is looking for an experienced Frontend Developer to join a team that is supporting one of our top client’s Design System team promoting consistent user experience across a large digital product. A stand-out quality in a past position would be experience in a design system/component library environment. This is a remote role, working in the Central time zone.

Required Skills:
1) JavaScript
2) HTML5
3) CSS
4) React.js (understand functional React components and hooks)
5) Node.js (understanding how that relates to building for the front-end is essential)
6) Candidate should have strong JavaScript experience & should understand at least at an intermediate level the foundations of JavaScript.
7) Responsive Web Design - understanding how layouts will respond at various screen sizes is essential
8) Version Control - we use Git, but some understanding of concepts of distributed version control is necessary.
9) TypeScript - should at least understand what it is, what benefit it provides, and how it relates to JavaScript.

Nice to have skills:
1) Testing (Cypress component testing, Visual Regression Testing)
2) CSS Preprocessors or CSS-in-JS tools (SASS or LESS, Emotion, Styled Components, etc.)
3) Material UI
4) Engineering Practices - TDD, Software Automation, CI/CD
5) Agile and XP
6) Experience working in a design system/component library team
7) Experience working on an internal tools team

Duties:
1) Develops reusable components for a shared product design system.
2) Analyzes requirements from 10-20 product development teams to come to a common, intuitive component API
3) Works with product managers and UX designers to ensure component library meets the needs of the business and users.
4) Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation.
5) Executes necessary documentation as needed.
6) Tests components across browsers and devices.
7) Maintains the component library as a product and work with other teams to manage contributions.
