Job Description
Senior Software QA Engineer (Kansas City, MO; DST Technologies, Inc.): Multiple Positions. The Senior Software QA Engineer takes a lead role in the planning, design, maintenance, implementation, and accessibility of physical and virtual frameworks or infrastructure for testing activities. They work with development teams to identify vulnerabilities and to troubleshoot issues with test tools and scripts. They also provide technical mentorship and peer review to other associates for complex automation activities. The Senior Software QA Engineer provides advanced automation support and automation environment development for associates carrying out software quality assurance activities across multiple applications of varying complexity. They evaluate a number of interrelated variables to select the tools necessary to solve testing issues that may span multiple products. This individual performs complex testing and analysis activities which involve interaction among multiple, interdependent systems, evaluation of numerous variables, and application of product-level knowledge and experience. Specific responsibilities include: Planning, developing, maintaining and executing a wide range of quality tests to ensure software functions according to specified standards and end-user requirements; Performing complex testing and analysis activities which involve interaction among multiple, interdependent systems, evaluation of numerous variables, and application of product-level knowledge and experience; Designing new test scripts and modifying existing test scripts. Executing automated and manual test scripts for software applications with a holistic approach; Designing, conducting maintenance implementation, and accessibility of solution set-up, and reporting methods; Providing technical mentorship and peer review to other associates; Analyzing, designing, programs and modifying software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet-related computer programs; Completing documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance; Interacting with users or client representatives to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications; Adhering to Software Engineering and Information Security Controls. Aligning with enterprise architectural strategies; Evaluating end-user requirements, software test criteria, and existing manual tests to determine where automation can be appropriately and effectively applied. Working with development teams to identify vulnerabilities in the automation framework and to troubleshoot issues with automated test tools and scripts and; Closing existing software defects. This is a hybrid role, required to work from the office 4-6 times per month, but may telecommute the rest of the time.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 3 years of experience in a Software Development/Engineering role.
Alternate Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 1 year of experience in a Software Development/Engineering role.
Must have: 1 year of experience with software testing methodologies, including testing via multiple internet browsers and mobile devices. 1 year of experience testing web applications. 1 year of experience serving as a mentor for junior associates. Proven ability to maintain productivity in multiple simultaneous projects with tight deadlines. Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, web applications, information security, data management, and computer/human interaction. Understanding financial data. Proven ability to identify the appropriate test utilities for different types of software applications. Proven ability in data and database management. Proven ability to engage with pre-existing test scripts and keep them current. Familiarity with software development practices and concepts. Familiarity with mobile and responsive testing, the application of ADA regulations to web apps. Proven ability to teach others in testing automation theory and execution, and to lead and communicate well. Proven ability to translate complex programming requirements into the ways a human would use the software in the real world. Proficiency in MS Office, Windows, SQL, HTML, JIRA, Agile SDLC.
