$15,000 Commitment Bonus| Paid out in 4 equal installments over 24 months in 6-month increments

**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the commitment bonus.**

$8,000 Relocation Assistance|Cash allowance payments will be made via direct deposit on behalf of DUHS by UrbanBound.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking aRespiratory Care Practitioner to perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the respiratory care services scope f clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Defined duties are performed in pediatric and adult populations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer oxygen, aerosolized medication via intermittent aerosol therapy (IAT), and metered dose inhalers (MDI).
  • Perform nasotracheal and artificial airway suction
  • Perform diagnostic pulmonary procedures, six-minute walks, and pulmonary function studies.
  • Verify Physician orders
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, correct set up, and assure safety, and function of all equipment/supplies necessary in the provision of patient care.
  • Assure adherence to all infectious disease standards in the delivery of patient care procedures.
  • Recognize life threatening situations and initiate appropriate responses.
  • Make patient care assessments according to accepted protocols.
  • Provide education to patients, families, physicians, nursing and other members of the health care teams.
  • Monitor response to all therapy
  • Document in patient medical record
  • Communicate all pertinent clinical information.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a 2 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or the equivalent) or currently enrolled in an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program, and registry eligible.
  • North Carolina State Licensure or North Carolina State Provisional License,
  • Certification by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) if graduate.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support ( BLS), and any other applicable certifications applicable to the institution.
