McGuireWoods Consulting (MWC) is seeking a Research Associate - Federal Government Affairs in our Washington, D.C. office. The McGuireWoods Consulting Research Associate is responsible for assisting lobbyists with the research of legislation and policy, and filing and preparing legislative reports. The ideal candidate would have a broad knowledge of and experience with the legislative process and is able to apply that to creating various materials for clients.

Responsibilities:- Attend and monitor various legislative and other committee meetings in order to track the progress of specific legislation or policy initiatives and report back to lobbyists.
- Prepare client-specific weekly legislative reports during legislative sessions or as needed.
- Assist lobbyists in researching and writing position statements, white papers, public relations materials, etc.
- Requires Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of experience.
- Knowledge oflegislative process.
- Experience in communications a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
- Demonstrable research skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work on deadlines.
- Hill experience preferred but not required.
