JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Radiologic Technologist in our Duke Children's Creekstone clinic located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.

$10,000 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 4 equal installments over 24 months in 6-month increments.

**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the Commitment bonus.**

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated body positions. Position patients using positioning assistance devices and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
  • Become familiar with the radiation equipment and help with trouble shooting
  • Process Images with correct patient identification information.
  • Calibrate radiographic equipment; perform routine equipment maintenance and perform annual lead apron survey and inspection.
  • Provide orientation and training to new personnel.
  • Annually review and sign Radiation Safety program policy.
  • Assist with clinic visit: includes rooming of patients post-check in, obtaining vital signs, review of medications in electronic medical records.
  • Review after visit summaries with patients/families before the patient is checked out as needed.
  • Assist with developing and/or updating patient education material
  • Assist with filling out of school forms, medication forms, and prior authorizations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of general policies and procedures to provide for the emotional and physical comfort and safety of patients; participate in the formulation of new policies.
  • Participate in maintaining the environment of care including equipment and other material resources.
  • Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assists in performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with control of material resources and maintenance; assist in appraisal of effectiveness of material and equipment and report any equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Participate in in-service education programs and other conferences within the service.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Assist with clinic visit: includes rooming of patients post-check in, obtaining vital signs, review of medications in electronic medical records, placing holter monitors and maintaining monitor stock.
  • Documentation in electronic health record. Assist with administrative functions as needed, including obtaining prior authorizations and message taking.
  • Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources. Calibrate radiographic equipment; perform routine equipment maintenance and perform annual lead apron survey and inspection. Annually review and sign Radiation Safety program policy. Participate in and assist with the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities, including performing unit audits.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
  • Level I must obtain certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II Minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist.
  • ARRT certification in radiography OR ARRT certification within 18 months of hire
  • BLS certification

The schedule for this position is day shifts.
