Work at this level provides the opportunity to fine-tune previously learned skills and the opportunity to apply these skills to more complex projects in both scope and duration as well as an opportunity to acquire additional skills through experience to qualify for advancement. Project assignments will tend to be broader in scope, and larger in scale than basic production planning requirements.
Responsibilities / Tasks
- Collect and prepare documentation related to production sequences and personnel schedules
- Plan production commitments for business units, specific programs, or jobs, using forecasting tools
- Review documents (i.e., production schedules, work orders, staffing tables, etc.) to determine personnel and material requirements
- Process internal work orders
- Distribute production schedules and work orders to departments
- Arrange delivery, assembly, and distribution of supplies or parts to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules
- Requisition inventories of material and supplies necessary to meet production demands
- Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and optimize delivery of product
- Work with procurement to verify material shipment or delivery details
- Assist in expediting delayed material for projects
- Revise production schedules due to design changes, labor/material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with supervision/management, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Production, Shipping/Receiving, and Warehouse departments
- Monitor work processes for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards/specifications
- Alert establishment personnel to coordinate production or shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays
- Compile information (i.e., production rates, progress, material inventories, materials used, customer information, etc.) so status reports can be completed
- Provide documentation and information to account for delays or changes to cost estimates
- Assist with labor budget review meetings
- Prepare reports and lead meetings as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or another business-related field and/or equivalent professional experience.
- Fully competent in performing the key requirements of a Planner I for more than one production department and/or 3-7+ years' experience in related fields.
