Performs clinical assessment, diagnostic sonography examinations, and synthesizes information with patient's medical history. Job DutiesRecords anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.Maintains electronic patient charts and records to processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the sonogram.Maintains patient information in the ultrasound documentation/reporting system, image storage system, and EMR. Obtains pertinent medical history from record prior to exams and prepares preliminary reports as requested by the physician. Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.Selects appropriate transducers, follows guidelines for probe handling and adjusts equipment to optimize the images utilizing the available applications and options on the ultrasound machine, based on fetal position, anatomy, and depth of tissue characteristics.Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action when possible. Experience performing first trimester exams, low risk exams, detailed fetal anatomy surveys and guidance of chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis procedures. Ability to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies. Ability to implement advanced imaging techniques when medically applicable (3D/4D). Knowledge of various sonography equipment and related applications. Recommends changes to improve efficiency, workflows, and/or patient safety.
