Performs clinical assessment, diagnostic sonography examinations, and synthesizes information with patient's medical history.Job DutiesRecords anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.Maintains electronic patient charts and records to processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the sonogram.Maintains patient information in the ultrasound documentation/reporting system, image storage system, and EMR. Obtains pertinent medical history from record prior to exams and prepares preliminary reports as requested by the physician.Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.Selects appropriate transducers and adjusts equipment to optimize the images utilizing the available applications and options on the ultrasound machine, based on fetal position, anatomy, and depth of tissue characteristics.Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action when possible.Explains medical studies and procedures to patients so they are well informed regarding the examination.Communicates effectively with patients and their families in patient care setting.
