LOCATION
This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with minimum onsite requirements on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the Parnall Office located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be located within a commutable distance OR willing to relocate (relocation package available to those who qualify).
GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager of Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Operations will lead and coordinate a cross-functional team of MISO tariff / Business Practice Manual subject matter experts. This position will be Consumers Energy primary MISO representative and build relationships with MISO strategy and policy leaders by participating in MISO stakeholder committee and task force meetings. The Manager of MISO Operations will also identify potential impacts of Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), resource adequacy and other related policy issues on the Company business outcomes and communicate impacts of MISO strategy on Consumers Energy's business at all levels. Other responsibilities will include establishing Company positions to influence future MISO tariff changes, assure compliance with all MISO tariffs and Business Practice Manuals, and coordinate MISO Network and Commercial model updates across the Company and state. Finally, this position will engage in increasingly independent and autonomous written and verbal advocacy to protect and further the Company's strategic goals and coordinate closely with Company's Supply Strategy, Pricing, Regulatory Affairs and Legal groups.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate a cross-functional team of MISO tariff / Business Practice Manual subject matter experts
- Act as Consumer Energy primary MISO representative and build relationships with MISO strategy and policy leaders by participating in MISO stakeholder committee and task force meetings
- Establish plan and Company positions to influence future MISO tariff changes
- Assure compliance with all MISO tariffs and Business Practice Manuals
- Coordinate MISO Network and Commercial model updates across CE
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience with the Tariffs, business practice manuals and policies of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc RTO and/or experience with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is preferred but not required
- Ability to understand and interpret the effects of RTO Tariffs, business practice manuals and related policies on the Company
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to synthesize and convey complex and/or technical information clearly, concisely and effectively
- Excellent verbal and written advocacy skills required to elicit the support of internal and external subject matter experts on transmission policy issues
- Political sensitivity and related interpersonal skills necessary to successfully navigate complex RTO stakeholder committee and taskforce processes
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree with four (4) or more years of experience working in a Business, Regulatory and/or Legal role
- Associate's degree with six (6) or more years of experience working in a Business, Regulatory and/or Legal role
- High School diploma/GED with eight (8) or more years of experience working in a Business, Regulatory and/or Legal role
