Full Job Description

The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine is seeking an academic pathologist with expertise in Medical Renal Pathology. Applicants should be board-certified in AP or AP/CP with fellowship training in Medical Renal Pathology (or equivalent experience) and qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio. Both recent graduates and more experienced pathologists are encouraged to apply. Opportunities exist to participate in other subspecialty services if desired.

The successful candidate will join our team of sub-specialty pathologists including one current medical renal pathologist.  UHCMC receives approximately 100,000 surgical specimens and over 700 medical renal pathology cases annually.  The medical renal pathologist will work in close collaboration with the clinical specialists in the UH Transplant Institute, UHCMC Division of Nephrology, and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Division of Pediatric Nephology. They will additionally participate in the education of residents, fellows and medical students in both the Department of Pathology and our collaborating clinical services. Involvement in clinical, translational or basic research is encouraged including numerous opportunities to participate in established collaborative translational research projects.

The 1000+ bed UHCMC campus includes University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals MacDonald Women’s Hospital, all situated adjacent to CWRU. The NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center supports basic, translational and clinical cancer research. UHCMC is ranked as one of America’s 100 best hospitals. The University Hospitals Transplant Institute is nationally recognized with their Kidney Transplant Program ranking number 11 in the country.  The Department of Pathology is in the top 11 nationally in NIH funding.

Please send a cover letter, CV and contact information for three references to Charnika.Wright@UHhospitals.org. Compensation and academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. In employment, as in education, UHCMC and CWRU are committed to equal opportunity and diversity. Women, veterans, members of underrepresented minority groups and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Among the nation’s leading academic medical centers, UHCMC is an affiliate of CWRU School of Medicine, a nationally recognized leader in medical research and education.
