USMAPS is a Department of the Army school with civilian instructors. The purpose of this one-year post high school year is to prepare students for admission to and success at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, NY. This is a full-time, twelve-month GS-11 Department of the Army teaching position with benefits including health care, vacation and sick leave, and retirement. This is NOT a remote job. Our school year is August to May with some summer responsibilities. Responsibilities include teaching algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus daily to two sections of students, assisting in the development of course material and curriculum, assisting students during additional instruction time, generating periodic reports on individual and collective student performance, providing recommendations for remediation and admission to USMA, maintaining classroom order and discipline, and serving on faculty committees.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, but a master's degree or higher in mathematics education is preferred. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities - KSAs) in the following six areas:
1. Academic Accomplishments
2. Teaching
3. Curriculum Development and Program Evaluation
4. Counseling
5. Service
6. Administrative Duties
