Summary:
The Materials Inventory Technician performs duties in distribution, receiving, storing and issuing of supplies and materials, shipping and receiving of hospital merchandise/supplies while maintaining required inventory management processes; meeting supply needs with prompt delivery according to specific time frames, assuring accuracy of issues and insuring the good working order and availability of materials in multiple hospital departments. Takes inventory and cycle counts. Enters and maintains information on the computer to ensure control over the receipt, storage, distribution of materials. Utilizes both expense and asset inventory systems to maintain inventory accuracy. Works promptly and effectively to ensure that units have all needed supplies and materials. Provides quality customer service to all persons requesting materials.
Responsibilities:
1. Receives, inspects, and delivers incoming supplies and equipment to departments and locations throughout the hospital.
2. Identifies and consistently maintains customer storage locations. Communicates data to product specialists for updating Lawson or other inventory tools.
3. Maintains a product inventory and stocking schedule to assure efficient and timely placement of orders and supply availability.
4. Efficiently stocks products using rotation and expiration processes.
5. Ensures accuracy of the inventory within customer areas and/or the Warehouse.
6. Prepares and assists in cycle count verifications and annual inventory.
7. Consistently exhibits a commitment to accomplish fill rate objectives and other departmental goals.
8. Processes debris and transports empty supply carts back to the loading dock area.
9. Stages incoming and outgoing supply carts to assigned areas to optimize space and efficiency.
10. Reports shortages, damaged products, missing items or short-date/expired items to supervisor or manager as soon as they are found.
11. Responds to inquiries and questions concerning inventory levels, delivery times, and back-order items.
12. Responds quickly and appropriately to teammate requests. Anticipates customer needs and initiates action to meet those needs.
13. Problem solves using logical thought processes. Brings any concerns or issues to supervisor or manager promptly.
14. Triages supply chain issues, resolves and follows up as appropriate through various communication tools.
15. Uses excellent customer service in all interactions. Introduces self to customer, presents purpose of interaction and/or asks, "How may I help you?".
16. Takes proper safety precautions at all times. Identifies and corrects or reports any safety or environmental issues.
17. Attends and actively participates in staff (teammate) meetings and training sessions.

Experience
One year in a materials position preferred, or two years of experience of computer entry, inventory control, supply distribution, material handling.

• Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.

Valid NC Driver’s License: No
If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
