Work Hours:
Starting February 1, 2025, this position will be Wednesday- Sunday, 30 hours per week. Flexible on the break down of hours throughout those specific days.
General Description of the Job Class
Provide massage therapy services to Duke Health & Fitness Center.
Duke Health & Fitness Center, located on the Center for Living campus in Durham, is a medically based wellness center serving fitness center members, as well as the surrounding triangle community.
Candidate should value the mind-body connection, be passionate about helping to promote optimal wellness of body and mind, be comfortable with patients who have complex medical conditions and skilled in collaborating with a team approach to care. The ideal candidate would have additional training in areas such as oncology massage, lymphatic massage and cupping.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
- Provide safe, appropriate, and effective massage techniques tailored to client needs.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for clients.
- Perform health history assessments and update them prior to each session, noting any precautions or contraindications.
- Explain procedures and apply techniques based on client preferences.
- Observe and respond to client reactions during massage, modifying techniques as necessary.
- Document all sessions according to established guidelines, maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
- Maintain client confidentiality and sensitivity to age and gender-related issues; report any unusual interactions to a supervisor immediately.
- Collaborate with treatment staff on treatment plans and educate clients on post-massage care and wellness practices.
- Provide massage orientation services, conduct educational seminars, and market massage services as needed.
- Stay updated with the latest techniques and advancements in massage therapy.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of massage. Current North Carolina Massage License.
Experience
Work requires a minimum of one year experience providing massage services.
OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Proof of CME credit/ certification required for any post graduate training modalities.
