National Grid is hiring a Manager of Complex Contract Management for Massachusetts
This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance
Job Purpose
The Manager of Complex Contract Management manages a team who supports the delivery and project management teams, advising on Contract Management best practices for contracted complex projects. The Manager is responsible for ensuring all costs for an assigned portfolio of projects are reviewed and robustly challenged against appropriate benchmarks and cost databases.
Key Accountabilities
- Actively develop self and team's skill set to achieve a full match with the target competencies for this role and for continuing professional development.
- Provide guidance and coaching to team members to ensure their effective development to meet their personal aspirations and future business needs.
- Ensure value for money on a large portfolio of complex capital projects.
- Provide contract support, guidance and advice to the project delivery teams to ensure compliance and contractor costs are robustly managed across the portfolio of projects.
- By working with the Project Manager and Construction Supervisor, validate claims/change orders submitted by the contractor to ensure National Grid achieves value for money.
- Identify early warnings, and assist with and monitor appropriate risk mitigation.
- Support the Project Manager with site progress and work completion status enabling accurate and timely cost and schedule updates.
- Regularly review and monitor contractor progress of the assigned portfolio of projects to verify the costs and progress of job as compared to the Earned Value or equivalent report.
- Support Project Manager to verify forecast accuracy based on crew efficiency, change impacts, etc., as needed.
- Ensure contract compliance through effective contract management activities.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to implement change and process improvements.
- Construction management experience- understanding the nature of construction projects and the effective / professional approach to delivery with a focus on gas pipeline and liquified natural gas (LNG) projects.
- Construction contractual knowledge - ability to interpret and apply contract clauses to ensure National Grid's commercial interests are protected.
- Claim assessment / valuation - ability to independently assess / verify claims/change orders and the cost and schedule impact on the project or event.
- Cost estimation - ability to provide input to forecast the cost to complete a project.
- Project management understanding assessment - ability to review and understand project to assess validity, deliverability, and assess impact of delays.
- Previous management experience required, with both matrix and functional organization structures. Proven ability to successfully manage direct reports.
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Estimating or Engineering required.
- MBA Preferred.

Salary
$137,000 - $161,000 a year
Salary commensurate with location and experience
