Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a Legal Practice Assistant to support the IP - Trademark/Copyright practice group. This position will report to the Manager of Legal Practice Support. The position will be responsible for providing a broad range of administrative and substantive legal support to the IP - Trademark/Copyright team in an environment where collaboration and exceptional client service is emphasized.

Legal Practice Assistants are part of ML LawPath®, a comprehensive program that combines substantive law firm experience with practical, hands-on training and professional development opportunities. It is designed to provide the experience, connections, and continuous learning to fast track your career, with an opportunity to form client relationships, routinely engage with Practice Group attorneys and legal professionals, and gain significant analytical and project management skills. ML LawPath® endeavors to help Legal Practice Assistants develop a well-rounded skill set and best practices that will foster their success as legal professionals and beyond.

Morgan Lewis recognizes the benefits of supporting flexible working arrangements. This position will reside in the Boston or the Washington, DC office, with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Flexibility with overtime is required. A commitment of two to three years is expected, and candidates must start no later than June 30, 2025.

Key responsibilities of this position:

  • Assisting with preparation of applications for trademark, service mark, and copyright registration.

  • Assisting with preparation of domestic and global trademark filings.

  • Assisting with trademark and copyright due diligence.

  • Performing online preliminary trademark clearance searches and preparing search guides.

  • Drafting correspondence to clients and international counsel regarding trademark prosecution, enforcement, and maintenance issues.

  • Preparing and updating status reports regarding trademark and copyright applications and registrations.

  • Keeping attorney teams apprised of upcoming deadlines and coordinating to keep clients updated of same.

  • Establishing, organizing, and maintaining case and client files.

  • Managing case and client information manually and digitally via electronic databases.

  • Assisting attorneys with the preparation and review of various forms.

  • Coordinating communication and planning across teams who are handling multiple client matters.

  • Providing administrative support, including, but not limited to, conflicts-checks for new matters and business intake materials.

  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the Intellectual Property-Trademark/Copyright Practice Group.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required;

  • One (1) year of internship or professional experience preferred; professional services industry experience a plus.

  • Independent, self-starting, and self-motivated.

  • Superior written/verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team environment are a must.

  • Exceptional organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to meet stringent deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and balance multiple tasks while operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Understanding of trademark docketing software a plus.

  • Flexibility to travel and work non-business hours at times as needed.

For positions in Washington D.C., the salary range for this position is: $53,200 - $85,150.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
