Job Purpose
The primary areas of responsibility will be supporting the integration engineer role associated with the digital substation and operational technology (OT). In this role you will be part of a capital project team delivering substation projects, evaluating new OT equipment, supporting the integration of new equipment, developing and update design standards and procedures associated with the digital substation and new technology.
Key Accountabilities
Capital Project Support
- Perform the integration of the protection and control system for digital substation projects.
- Develop data mapping tables, signal diagrams, and IEC61850 configuration files for digital substations and future operational technology.
- Work with the Protection Engineer and C&I Engineer on the integration of their equipment.
- Support all commissioning of the new technology deployed by Digital OT Protection.
Design Standards, Procedures and Work Practices
- Develop and support the National Grid standards associated with the digital substation and operational technology.
- Support the development, upkeep and periodic review of policies and procedures related to operational technology.
- Represent the company on industry committees and participate in the formulation of industry-wide standards and practices.
New Technology Evaluation
- Support new equipment evaluation in a laboratory environment
- Be an active member in vendor working groups to provide the utility perspective and build relationships within the industry.
- Develop and Support the National Grid pilot projects associated with new operational technology.
- Investigate and evaluate alternative protection and controls equipment to be used in National Grid substations.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Able to motivate, counsel, coach, and develop direct reports and others.
- Experience establishing clearly defined goals and standards of employee performance.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and or Software Engineering.
- Knowledge of and experience with electric power facilities with particular emphasis on protection and control systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of IEC61850 is preferred
- Knowledge of Networking is preferred
- Experience in general scripting is preferred
- Demonstrate experience and ability to plan, direct, and execute technical work with a minimum amount of guidance and supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.

Salary: $128,000 - $181,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
