Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms, with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire an Immigration Paralegal that would report to the Senior Manager of Legal Practice Support. Our internationally-recognized immigration practice is dynamic and collegial, with excellent opportunities for professional growth, and the tools and support of one of the world’s largest full-service law firms.

Based in either our Washington DC, Dallas, Miami, or San Francisco office, this position offers a flexible, hybrid in-office/remote working arrangement.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist attorneys with preparation and filing of a broad range of immigrant and non-immigrant petitions and applications with focus on the writing intensive cases such as O-1 and I-140 Extraordinary Ability/Outstanding Researcher/National Interest Waiver petitions.

  • Written and oral communication with clients to gather needed information and documents required for the preparation of petitions and applications.

  • Enter, update, and maintain data in immigration case management system.

  • Management of caseload and timely completion of work.

  • Track and manage critical deadlines.

  • Run active cases workload and client NIV expiration reports in immigration case management system.

  • Attend team meetings and continue educational programs/seminars.

  • Enter and close time entries in the firm’s time recording system.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Journalism, Communication or Creative Writing majors are encouraged to apply.

  • Applicant should have an interest in pursuing business immigration as a career. Basic to intermediate knowledge or experience with the immigration practice area, preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Paralegal certificate obtained through a paralegal studies program approved by the ABA or from an accredited college or university, preferred. Positions in California require one of the following per California legislation (AB 1761):

  • A certificate of completion from a paralegal program approved by the ABA.

  • One full year of law related work experience under the supervision of a licensed attorney who has been a member of the State Bar of California for at least the three preceding years and who has signed a written declaration that the candidate is qualified to perform paralegal task.

  • A certificate of completion from a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses.

For positions in Washington D.C., the salary range for this job posting is

$56,708.00 - $90,732.50.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
