HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER – LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE
The Wattsburg Area School District is looking for a Long-term Substitute Secondary Social Studies Teacher anticipated March 2025 through June 2025.
Shift: Full time, regular school schedule
Salary Range: Minimum of $44,325 based on degree(s), prorated.
Benefits: Full employer paid medical while employed as a Long-Term Substitute.
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated educator to teach secondary social studies. The ideal candidate will be certified in Social Studies 7-12. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in a related field are eligible and will be considered. This is a temporary full time substitute position assigned to a regular daily teaching schedule and course load.
Key Responsibilities:
· Teaches assigned students/classes the approved curriculum.
· Engages students actively and meaningfully through lesson design, instruction, and assessment.
· Identifies and implements appropriate instructional practices and methods to meet students’ varying ability levels.
· Uses an appropriate variety and number of assessments to determine student academic progress.
· Provides written feedback to students on assessed material on a regular basis.
· Implements the IEP requirements of special needs students.
· Establishes communication with parents through a variety of means to inform them of academic and behavioral progress and achievement.
· Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
· Maintains confidentiality with student information.
Qualifications:
· Certified Social Studies 7-12 Teacher or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Effective written and oral communication skills.
· Self-motivated and adept at problem solving and critical thinking.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
Required Clearances:
· Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances, Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training; and
· Act 168 Sexual Abuse/Misconduct Disclosure; and
· Health physical and tuberculin skin test required.
