Purpose:

The Head of Rating Agency will lead and manage the company's engagement with most important external stakeholders including rating agencies and key regulators. The leader is responsible for overseeing the ratings process for Athene and building strong relationships with agencies. In addition, the role requires coordination of regulatory efforts and advocacy areas across the firm. This role reports directly to the Global Treasurer of Apollo and Athene. The leader of this team will play an important role in driving the overall strategy, engagement and advocacy efforts with key stakeholders. The leader of this team will work very closely with CFO, President and business leaders across Apollo and Athene to align rating agency engagement and business strategy and objectives. Ideal candidate would be a leader with demonstrated ability for strategic thinking, problem solving, strong knowledge of rating agency capital frameworks as well as relationship management skills.


Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key rating agencies such as Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, AM Best and Fitch Ratings
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the company and rating agencies
  • Provide thought leadership in framing strategy and presentation materials for rating agencies and regulators
  • Conduct research, establish industry connections and provide thought leadership on key regulatory topics to infirm company’s efforts around advocacy
  • Help lead the firm-wide coordination of developing and implementing strategies to achieve and maintain favorable credit ratings
  • Proactively monitor industry trends, emerging issues and regulatory changes to inform advocacy efforts, strategic planning and ensure compliance
  • Oversee all rating agency submissions of financial data, risk assessments and strategic plans, surveys
  • Coordinate and lead meetings, presentations, and strategic reviews with rating agencies
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the finance team


Qualifications and Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in rating agency relations, financial management & analysis, investor relations or a related field within the industry
  • 4+ years of leadership experience
  • Proven track record of successfully managing relationships with major rating agencies.
  • Strong understanding of insurance capital regimes, rating agency models and capital frameworks
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills
  • Proven track record of networking and relationship management
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced, multi-faceted environment, and drive influence
  • Ability to present to senior executives and Board committees
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation are a plus


$128,400.00 - $192,600.00 USD Annual


Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
