Job Title: Flex Machine Operator (Production)
Location: Nampa, Idaho
This position is for A shift, Sunday - Tuesday, E/O Wednesday from 7am - 7 pm.
Job Summary:
A Flex Machine Operator for Materne, North America is responsible for learning how to operate various machines on different high speed production lines (i.e. crusher, mixer/cooker, packaging equipment, etc.). This position will be used for coverage in the event of an absence and will assist with quality issues, sanitation and projects as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Operation of Tetra Pak machine – mixing of materials and products
- Load ingredients into Tetra Pak machine according to Materne’s specifications
- Operate high-speed manufacturing equipment through touchscreen/HMI
- Read schematics and diagrams to monitor machine activity (flow, machine status, temperature settings, level indication)
- Testing of PH levels, viscosity levels, brix levels, using quality devices
- Receive / inspect materials and accept or reject based on Materne’s specifications
- Operation of Volpak/Bossar Machine – form, fill and seal pouches
- Lift and add rolls of packaging film into machine
- Observe materials to identify contamination or foreign materials
- Inspect pouches for uniformity and quality
- Document all necessary supply inventories
- Operation of Ixapak/ End of Line Machine – top loader and case packer
- Reset robotic arm positions after line shut down
- Load packaging materials into packaging machine
- Set machine to increase/decrease number of pouches selected for different size packaging sleeves
- Monitor materials to identify contamination or foreign materials
- Inspect product as it moves through manufacturing process for quality
- Conduct quality testing and record data in a timely and accurate manner
- Perform troubleshooting and basic maintenance of equipment
- Operate industrial carts and power hand carts
- Break down machinery with hand tools to clean and sanitize
- Complete daily paperwork and reports
- Perform and complete sensory testing
- Must work a minimum of 12 hours
- Responsible to support a food safety and food quality culture
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for an entire shift 12 hours
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to walk up & down stairs multiple times per shift
Education:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Technical / Trade School preferred
Experience:
- Prior experience working as a Machine Operator or similar position in a manufacturing environment
- Prior experience working in the food industry is preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate (verbal, read, write) effectively in English
- Ability to plan work and anticipate problems
- Mechanical aptitude
- Computer skills (data entry & experience with an ERP system in a production environment preferred)
- Basic math skills, including competency with weights and measures (must be able to take/record measurements and understand tare weight)
