Job Summary

The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is hiring a financial transaction coordinator to support the college's fiscal operations. Reporting to the senior financial manager (our organizational chart), you will coordinate procurement transactions, complete accounting tasks, and maintain trackers and reports. You will need to handle assignments with accuracy, integrity, and efficiency with a sound understanding of UM procurement policies, procedures, and internal controls.

This hybrid job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is expected three days a week, with a few offsite weeks throughout the academic year and an offsite period from mid-May to mid-August.

Responsibilities*

  • Work with Procurement Services and the Shared Services Center (SSC) to process purchase orders (invoices and Marketsite orders), review and obtain internal approvals, verify documentation for adherence to both college and university policies
  • Provide high-level customer service by answering questions related to payment processing and identifying, following up, and resolving issues promptly
  • Perform routine accounting tasks including journal entries; set up/close out chartfields and identify/investigate errors; assist senior research administrator with faculty accounting matters
  • Process deposits (cash, check, ACH wires) following proper internal controls
  • Compile and maintain different logs, trackers, and reports as assigned; reconcile transactions and follow up on errors
  • Assist the senior financial manager in processing student awards or other student payment needs
  • Maintain and resolve SSC Statement of Activity (SOA) tickets
  • Coordinate financial transactions between internal and external customers
  • Review and process honoraria, guest and student reimbursements, and other tasks
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and development of process documentation to make procurement operations more effective

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One+ year of professional finance-related experience
  • Intermediate-level experience with Excel (create spreadsheets and use formulas) and experience with other MS Office/Google products

Modes of Work

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor transparency throughout the recruiting process.
