Executive Assistant- Washington, DC
This position resides in the Governmental Affairs Office of Southern Company and is responsible for providing direct administrative support to the Senior Vice Presidents of Legislative Affairs and Regulatory Affairs. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the administrative field supporting an officer level employee in a corporate or government environment. This position requires exceptional organizational and decision-making skills. They must be a self-starter and possess the ability and desire to work through changing priorities with minimal supervision.
The duties preformed include but are not limited to scheduling and coordinating meetings, processing expense reports, production of meeting materials, calendar maintenance, handling travel arrangements, assisting with in-office events, handling confidential information, assisting with communications projects including social media accounts and updating & sending mass email newsletters and other administrative and office task as assigned. This position is located in northwest Washington, D.C. area near Capitol Hill and is an in-person position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- College degree required
Job Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years administrative experience desired
- Previous experience with Outlook, PowerPoint, iExpense, Excel, Photoshop and graphics editing preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate and work with other Government Affairs staff
- Possess excellent time management, planning, organization, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Flexible, multi-task oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and complete work with minimum supervision
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential matters
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (telephone, verbal, and written)
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal/external customers and co-workers
- Possess strong business acumen and ability to interact with executives
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and other applications
