The Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences seeks a Board Certified/Board Eligible fellowship trained physician-scientist Laryngologist to join its faculty in Durham, NC. This physician-scientist position offers a balance of 50/50 time dedicated to clinical work and research, respectively.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of an expanding and established laryngology program and multi-disciplinary Voice Center in an internationally renowned academic facility. The faculty member will have relationships with colleagues who have received worldwide recognition for their research and patient care.
This physician-scientist role is based at the Duke University Medical Center and related clinics. They will join two established laryngologists, and a team of Speech-Language Pathologists at the Duke Voice Care Center. The opportunity exists to participate in and grow collaborative multi-disciplinary subspecialty clinics in the scope of laryngology, including voice, airway, and swallowing. The Duke Care Voice Center has three locations, two professional voice studio therapy rooms, and treats voice disorders in both adults and pediatric patients with voice demands that range from professional to everyday use in nature.
Development of a translational research program to complement research programs within the Department and Duke University is expected, with key milestones that include obtaining K and R level NIH funding. Significant support and mentorship towards these milestones will be provided from the Department Chair and research faculty in the Department and at Duke.
Academic rank will be determined based on individual qualifications, with research and clinical productivity measures used to guide clinical track. This physician-scientist will be expected to participate fully in the activities of the Department, including clinical care, research, and teaching of medical students, surgery residents, and ancillary staff.
