Job Summary
The Product Manager, Innovation will lead Virtual Power Plant (VPP) offer expansion across NRG brands and territories. The VPP Innovation and Strategy team requires a Product Manager who will be able to identify, analyze and recommend expansion initiatives. This role requires experience in investigating complex business opportunities and creatively accessing resources to determine fit within NRG's VPP strategy. The candidate for this role will have demonstrated strong cross-functional teaming, new product development experience, business acumen and leadership skills. This position is full-time in the Houston area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop expertise in demand response and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) initiatives that contribute to the overall stability of US electricity markets. Understand the fundamentals of demand side management and emerging technologies that enable its growth.
Monitor U.S. market VPP activities and identify and prioritize opportunities for NRG participation working closely with VPP core team and Regulatory.
Gain understanding of NRG brands' product offers and how they contribute to the VPP strategy. Coordinate efforts across brands to insure transparency and consistent contribution to the VPP business case.
Acquire an in-depth knowledge of how demand response and VPPs operate and generate value for NRG in priority markets such that a business case and project plan for market entry can be executed.
Identify potential partnerships and coordinate pilot projects required for successful participation in VPP programs in priority markets.
Analyze program performance, collect data, and assemble reports on customer, program, and partnership performance including energy conservation, load shed, and financial performance.
Provides ad-hoc analytics and provides supporting teams with updated analytics needs to support VPP expansion.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree: Management, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Electrical Engineering, or other related AND 5 years of military experience. in strategy, project management, or analytics or 10 years of equivalent military experience. Discipline in Management, Finance, or Engineering is preferred. in strategy, project management, or analytics
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in Product / Business Strategy
Proven background in bringing new products or projects to market
Proven successful cross-functional work
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a service industry (e.g., electricity, mortgage, insurance, etc.)
Adept at problem definition and problem solving
Passionate about the energy transition with a creative mindset rooted in business strategy and project management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
Highly data-driven with the ability to analyze, articulate and solve complex problems and concepts to make effective business decisions
Ability to understand business goals and the need to balance expectations and recommend trade-offs
Effectively prioritize workload in a detailed and organized manner
