Full Job Description

Introduction to Role:

Join our dedicated Oncology unit at AstraZeneca, where we are redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm with the bold ambition to eliminate cancer as a cause of death. As the Director of Medical Diagnostics - Oncology, you will ensure timely, high-quality input into development and lifecycle plans, supporting efficient companion diagnostics/testing solutions to enable efficient treatment throughout the patient journey. This role is within US Medical Affairs supporting the Enhertu Oncology Franchise.

Accountabilities:

As part of your role, you will develop, evaluate, and deliver the US Enhertu diagnostic strategy for current and future oncology products. You will generate diagnostics-related insight to craft US input into the development and regulatory approach for the breast portfolio. You will also monitor the scientific and medical landscape and continue to optimize plans for diagnostic-related needs. Your role will involve ensuring in-market companion diagnostics/testing excellence for all product launches, including market readiness evaluation to inform go/no-go decisions.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced medical degree (MD, PhD, MBBS)
  • 3+ years of experience in health care delivery; including US experience and preferably oncology diagnostic or clinical lab experience, pharmaceutical experience is a plus
  • Experience with diagnostic test launch planning and evidence-generating efforts to support diagnostic test adoption
  • Validated experience with a broad base of external authorities including prescribers, payors, and providers
  • An understanding of the diagnostic FDA environment, and clinical laboratory practices including CLIA lab requirements and test implementation
  • Proven track record of critical thinking, judgment, and influencing skills
  • Validated demonstration of effective cross-functional project team leadership
  • Ability to lead and influence through change
  • Positive relationship and collaboration skills

When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace, and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.

At AstraZeneca, we change the practice of medicine and improve the patient experience by generating and communicating compelling medical evidence. We translate the wealth of medical and scientific expertise to ensure the data we produce helps physicians to better treat patients at every point in the journey. We are a high-performing team within a global, growing organization. Our culture is one of openness and transparency, fused with ambition and drive. An encouraging and trusting place to grow your career, each of us is empowered to take a tailored approach to our development, driving the pace and direction.
