Our Property & Casualty Auto and Fire Data Modeling team needs a talented and experienced Database Designer/Administrator with a robust background in logical data design and understanding of physical implementation across multiple platforms including the cloud. If you have a passion for helping teams design and optimize their data-driven applications, understand the critical importance of data messaging, and excel in both logical data design and data element naming, we want you on our team.


Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

As a Database Designer/Administrator at State Farm, you will:

  • Design, Implement, and Maintain: Oversee the development and management of our large logical data model, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Ensure Accuracy and Availability: Conduct data quality assessments and recommend improvements to enhance data integrity and usability across applications.
  • Prioritize Internal Consumer Demands: Field requests from various Property & Casualty development teams to assist them with data element naming and ensure consistency with our existing model.
  • Collaborate Closely: Work together with Property & Casualty development and operations teams to support data-driven applications and solutions, facilitating training sessions and workshops to promote understanding and adherence to the logical data model.
  • Optimize Solutions: Continuously improve and optimize database designs for efficiency and scalability, staying current with industry trends and best practices in data design and management.

Qualifications

  • Requires technical ability to work in the data design/data modeling domain with a keen understanding of database administration principles
  • Ability to lead conceptual, logical, and physical model sessions needed to make strategic decisions
  • Utilizes, promotes, and aids in defining and developing data design and admin standards guidance and best practices
  • Ability to lead strategic discussions that help drive physical implementation options across hybrid data storage ecosystems
  • Collects and analyzes information to identify customer business, operational, analytic and technical needs with the goal of suggesting and developing implementation and integration solutions and plans
  • Exhibits devOps and Agile mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset
  • Has extensive knowledge of modernized data and database technologies and related software tools standards
  • Has ability to recommend strategic designs and approaches that will support a variety of customer data consumption and analytic needs
  • Leads strategic work across the product suite and utilizes data architecture, data design, administration practices, and industry concepts to increase efficiency and effectiveness in solving complex issues
  • SME that has ability to advance data design and admin techniques within the data design community
  • Functions at highest level of autonomy and consistently assumes a lead/coordination role in completion of work responsibilities
  • Drives, embraces, and enables environment of change fostering innovation championing collaboration and ideas across Enterprise
  • Champion and provide guidance with an innovative mindset to deliver product solutions
  • Creates and utilizes data patterns to promote consistency and reuse across enterprise data stores
  • Required AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • Preferred AWS Certified Data Engineer
  • Experience with ER Studio, Json, Python

  • Potential starting salary range: $95,800 - $148,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
