Job Description Summary
According to the Operation mission, vision, the Corporate Engineering Project Lead will manage CAPEX projects including Innovation, Cost Savings, and Sustainability initiatives across all Bel Brands.
Leading project teams to ensure deliverables are met on time and in full, within the project scope and budget, utilizing resources effectively. Coordinating with other functions to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and stakeholders are engaged to drive timely decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management
- Carry out or have carried out design studies in order to propose costed technical solutions.
- Assist the plants in defining investment needs.
- Work with local management to propose process and equipment improvements aligned with Company policy.
- Write technical and functional specifications.
- Analyze technical offers and compare technical quotes, vendor selection.
- Manage projects in all phases (exploration, development, implementation, closing) following the project management method.
- Leverage project management expertise to ensure the delivery of projects on time, in full through the application of a robust methodology.
- Define Project scope, Project success criteria.
- Build and follow up timeline and budget.
- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate governance forums.
- Coordinate risk management to minimize project risks.
- Strongly coordinate project team members from many different functions
- Assist and lead equipment FAT / SAT / final installation with detailed reports.
- Schedule, Plan, Lead Equipment installation with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure Vertical and successful start-up.
- Set up and lead the handover from engineering to operation (production and maintenance at closing phase
- Conduct lessons learned after each project to enhance our ways of working.
- Use all Bel standards (projects, safety, quality, CSR, maintenance…)
- Bring technical expertise and support to the plants.
- Prepare and lead different type of meetings (team meetings, technical design reviews or steering committee)
- Clearly communicate on progress, risk, and project deviation (Cost, resource, priority…): report and escalate to management as needed with current tools.
Engineering Standard
- Write and Share improvements on current Engineering standards.
- Be part of different workshop for improving Engineering standards
- Contribute towards creating a center of excellence on project management - providing guidance on training on tools, methodology, and best practices.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance, Operations Management, or a related field is required.
- Minimum 10 years of work experience preferred, 5+ years of experience in Project Management, or Engineering Design preferably within a multinational environment, Food or Dairy Experience is preferred.
- Hard skills:
- Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or other food processing design
- Be a leader and example for Project Management for local team.
- Budget responsibility may vary depending on current or exceptional project (process, packaging, utilities…)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office [MS excel, MS project]
- Knowledge of AutoCAD (PID, drawings, layout reading, updating)
- Demonstrated knowledge of PMO, USDA, FDA and other relevant GMP practices
- English as main language is preferred, French is a plus.
- Experience in Financial justifications, P&L, understanding of plant operations budgets.
- Soft skills:
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and rigor
- Autonomous
- Ability to work on international environment.
- Ability to cooperate on all levels in factory from shop floor to management.
- Ability to lead, engage and develop direct and indirect teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate demonstrated critical thinking and analytical ability.
- Flexible and ability to learn quickly.
Working Conditions: Work is performed largely in a hybrid office environment, minimum 2 days per week on site. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 40 hours a week. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
Recurrent travel: 20% on different plants.
Cross functional position: Will have strong relationships with Production, Finance, Supply Chain, Factories Accounting, Marketing and Development.
