Raba Kistner is seeking an enthusiastic Construction Materials Technician II to join our team in the Austin, TXarea. The Construction Materials Technician II is responsible for conducting field or laboratory testing, sampling, and/or inspection services.


  • Communicate with dispatcher/coordinator to ensure priorities and deadlines are met in both the field and laboratory.
  • Meet with supervisors of contractors, engineer/architect representatives and/or other project leads on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures.
  • Following safety protocols, ensure safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all nuclear gages and field equipment.
  • Communicate project progress and delays to supervisor and dispatcher.
  • Submit accurate and complete testing/inspection reports on a daily basis.
  • Drive company vehicles to job sites in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • High School diploma or GED certification or must have at least one year of applicable experience in the materials testing and inspection industry and posses one or more certifications, such as ACI Field, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregates, TxDOT SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, 1A or 1B, or other relevant certifications. 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements. Able to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain. 

Posses Troxler Manufacturing or equal radiation safety course to utilize nuclear gauges, Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) from the Texas State Highway and Transportation Department, or ability to complete within 6 months of employment Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to write short correspondences, notes, letters and memos. Must be safety minded and willing to put safety first in performing all duties.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, frequently required to stoop, kneel crouch or crawl, regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, and talk. Continuously required to use hands and reach. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, focus vision, depth vision. Work environment includes potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow implement and follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment. Regular use of non-complex machines and equipment and hand tools such as sledgehammers, shovels and picks. Work assignments are frequently performed outside in all weather conditions.

This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.
