Responsibilities:
- In-depth quantitative and qualitative evaluation of investment opportunities in the commercial real estate (CRE) debt market. A base line knowledge of valuation and cash flow modeling of investment real estate, across a variety of property types, is critical for success in the role.
- Communicate investment recommendations that summarize the evaluation and research of an investment opportunity. When appropriate, write recommendation documents to present to management.
- Responsible for the monthly surveillance of existing investments in the CMBS market. Update models and communicate any material change in outlook with clear and concise reasoning.
- Monitor the commercial real estate market by engaging with research analysts across the industry as well as summarizing public REIT earnings calls. Interact with Wall Street firms to source opportunities and gather information critical to the investment analysis.
- Interact with issuers and dealers, attending meetings and conferences as needed.
- Contribute to team discussions focused on investment opportunities and performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Genuine interest in commercial real estate and structured finance.
- Strong analytical abilities and knowledge of financial statements.
- Understanding of the fixed income markets.
- Communication and relationship building skills to appropriately influence and share ideas with others.
- BA/BS degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evaluation of mortgages secured by commercial real estate.
- Exposure to CMBS markets.
- Some programming experience in any language.
- Passion in investments and financial markets.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) completed or in progress.
