Our global technical leather client is looking for a Color, Material and Finish (CMF) Designer to join their team FULL-TIME!
This role requires 100% onsite presence at the client's offices in Grand Prairie.
As part of a small but growing team, the Color, Material and Finish (CMF) Designer will develop, implement and oversee technical color and material strategies for clients' custom leather interior and transportation projects. They will also focus on exploring and designing new ways to quilt, perforate, print, laser and build out leather and leather furniture projects.
Color, Material and Finish (CMF) Designer Responsibilities
- Conduct and oversee color readings in LAB to ensure accurate and consistent color matching for leather products
- Develop and maintain color palettes, ensuring cohesion across projects and adherence to client expectations
- Work with suppliers to evaluate material samples, providing technical input to refine color accuracy and quality and ensure timely delivery of samples - Manage lifecycle of color sampling, from concept to production approval
- Stay current on industry trends in materials, finishes and color theory
- Collaborate with Design and Production to translate trends into viable product designs
- Document all color specifications - Develop and maintain material and color library
- Standardize color, material and finish processes
- Travel with team 10
- 15% of the year within the US and possibly internationally to collaborate with other leather designers and clients
Color, Material and Finish (CMF) Designer Requirements
- Experience in a design or manufacturing environment, preferably in materials, finishes, or color management
- Heavy technical color experience in leather, industrial design or fashion, including color combinations
- Proven understanding of market trends - Basic knowledge of LAB color space, color theory, and color measurement tools
- Experience overseeing quality control of products
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop; design tools such as Rhino, CAD or similar
- Portfolio showcasing work on market trends in materials or fashion goods, color and, if applicable, CAD or similar technical drawings of leather, fabric or similar design
In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
