Job Description: Apex Systems is seeking talented professionals who love a challenge to join us in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. Apex Systems is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete ‘Data Services’ solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is a cloud-hosted solution comprised of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS), software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet DHS requirements. Apex Systems is seeking a talented Cloud Architect to serve as a cloud subject matter expert. Effective architecture begins with a deep understanding of requirements and customer needs and matches them with technology and processes aligned with architecture principles. The Architect will manage enterprise architecture efforts to include high level system design, prototyping, proofs of concept, and future state architecture solutioning. The successful candidate will work closely with technical leaders, program leads, and solution engineers to ensure best practices and effective engineering when modernizing and delivering the solution. The ideal candidate will be capable of reviewing, analyzing, and validating initial stakeholder requests, evaluating technologies, and providing feedback and guidance on solution design. The candidate will work across teams, providing design context to help define and deliver solution capabilities. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of technology and significant hands-on experience building proofs of concept to demonstrate functionality along with developing supporting documentation. They will have significant hands-on experience developing production solutions, and motivation to explore problems to find creative solutions and grow existing skillsets.

Required Skills:

  • US citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years managing, designing, building, and implementing enterprise technology solutions
  • 8+ years supporting Private, Commercial, and/or Hybrid Cloud deployments
  • 5+ years AWS cloud experience (GovCloud preferred), deploying compute, storage, and other native service offerings
  • 5+ years producing architecture and designs that implement scalability, performance, and cost-effective solutions
  • 5+ years incorporating security best practices for system integration and design, such as NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • 5+ years delivering technical solutions for government customers on programs of at least $50M in total contract value
  • 4+ years translating requirements into high level system designs
  • 4+ years designing and implementing data management technologies
  • 4+ years integrating systems, services, and/or components through standard or custom APIs
  • 4+ years producing technical documentation to communicate system designs and technological analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with Government Cyber Mission Space and legal constraints applicable to civilian Government Agencies (FISMA, FIPS, SecOps, etc.)
  • Experience with DevSecOps
  • Experience with Elastic Cloud Enterprise and other Elastic products
  • Experience in assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, process, operations
  • Experience in data modeling, visualization, metric dashboards, and other reporting systems
  • Understanding of DHS CDM Program and understanding of cybersecurity requirements and mandates
  • Understanding of programming languages such as Python or Java, including limitations they may have on system implementations as well as software development best practices for system consideration
