Full Job Description

This position plays a lead role in the Club’s efforts to ensure teen members are prepared for youth employment opportunities and have a career plan. This position will collaborate with other Club staff to establish an environment that facilitates: 1) employability of teen Club members, 2) career counseling, 3) job readiness, 4) case management, 5) job placement services, and 6) teaching of life skills.  This position will work closely with Club leadership to ensure the success of the BGCB’s workforce readiness strategy as part of the Ready To Work Program.   Teen Career Pathways Program Manager is responsible for the implementation of the youth workforce readiness strategy at the Club, including creating and sharing clear, consistent messaging to teens, parents, staff, and employers about Ready to Work opportunities.

Responsibilities:

 In partnership with the Ready to Work team and other youth development professionals at the Club, facilitate youth workforce readiness programming that includes skill development and career exploration experiences, industry-recognized certifications, and high-quality work-based learning experiences.

Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of all components of the workforce readiness strategy and make adjustments based on learning.

Provide technical assistance, consultations and trainings related to workforce readiness for Club staff.

Identify gaps in workforce readiness programming, resources, service delivery and knowledge and work to close the gaps.

Assist in the management of employer relationships, partnerships and alliances related to workforce readiness.

Identify and examine potential new partners to support youth workforce readiness, discovering and exploring a diverse range of opportunities.

Build and maintain knowledge base of effective Club programs and practices related to youth workforce readiness, leadership and life skills programs.

Maintain high-degree of expertise in the areas of workforce readiness and high-quality youth development.

Supervise the Club’s school year and summer youth internship opportunities by developing the necessary systems and processes to better facilitate both Club and corporate partner engagement and teen member participation.

Assist all teen Club members, individually and/or in groups, with developing career goals and plans.

Lead and coordinate teen recruitment into the Ready to Work program.

Support payroll processing for onsite Club Interns.

Support productive intern performance and encourage teens about their future through ongoing coaching, support, and professional development.

Contribute to the planning and implementation of Ready to Work University (RTWU) curriculum and events.

Maintain positive, productive relationships with all stakeholders including partners, interns, staff, schools, community organizations, and community members.

Meet all of the specific requirements in the Program Standards each year.  Standards are updated each year and provided to staff to support them during the goal setting process.

Teaching youth/teens the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle is a BGCB priority.  As a result, all staff is expected to model healthy behavior while working with our members.

 BGCB values creating child-friendly environments, where youth/teens of all abilities can be successful and participate.  BGCB expects employees to embrace its focus on inclusion of all members, regardless of disability or developmental challenge.

Building the capacity of staff is central to BGCB.  The organization encourages and requires that all staff participates in annual professional development opportunities that continue to cultivate their skills in the youth development field.

Every staff member shares the responsibility for ensuring BGCB is, and remains, an environment free of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree highly preferred, equivalent experience considered.

Direct experience developing and delivering a wide variety of programming and support services for teens.

Knowledge of trends in careers, life skills and leadership activities for teens.

Minimum one-year supervisory experience.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

MS Office and web competency preferred.

Must be or become CPR/FA certified.

Ability to work with teens and families from a variety of backgrounds.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 Flexibility to work club hours especially as seasons and service needs change.

Valid driver’s license required.
