CAD Specialist II - Mechanical Designer

The Honeywell Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Mechanical Design Engineering team designs and manufactures specialized Coil Wound Heat Exchangers and other natural gas liquefaction equipment. The equipment is designed by our engineering organization and fabricated at our manufacturing facility in Port Manatee, FL or other domestic and international 3rd party facilities. Our customers use this equipment to liquefy extracted natural gas, massively improving its transportability as an energy source to end users around the world.

You will report to the Design Manager, and work out of our site in Allentown, PA in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building detailed and accurate 3D models and drawings of product components and assemblies as assigned by other designers or engineers. Drawings are built according to established Honeywell drafting practices with an emphasis on design for safety as well as manufacturability.
  • Support material management and procurement activities by building accurate and timely bills of material in the SAP MRP system.
  • Responsible for ensuring MDE design and drawing deliverables are clear and well understood by the Port Manatee facility and other manufacturing sites.
  • Liaise with manufacturing personnel on matters related to design issues or production variations.
  • Participate in plant visits occasionally and international field repair trips, as assigned.
  • Participate in and lead model, safety, and drawing reviews to ensure compliance with engineering requirements, customer specifications, and established fabrication methods.

MUST HAVES

  • 5+ years' experience CAD design
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

WE VALUE

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Design Technology/Drafting
  • Experience with the design and fabrication of ASME pressure vessels, and B31.3 process piping design practice.
  • Experience with design and modeling of structural systems, controls, valving, and other industrial gas system components a plus.
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems; SolidWorks or similar. MicroStation & SmartPlant experience are a plus.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding and materials of construction.
  • Design for manufacturing with inherent focus on safety.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems such as SAP or similar.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Document Management Systems; SolidWorks PDM or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools.
