Additional Information About the Role

The Manager, Brand and Graphic Design Strategy works in the enterprise's Marketing and Communications department as part of the full-service, in-house creative team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Brand and Graphic Design Strategy, this position leads and provides essential oversight to one of two teams of cross-region graphic designers responsible for designing internal and external materials to support business needs and marketing objectives for BJC Health System and its regions.

This is a hybrid position with regular onsite meetings.

Must be located in St. Louis metro area

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Leads and provides essential oversight to a team of cross-region Graphic Design Strategists responsible for designing effective materials to meet the strategic marketing and business objectives and needs of the Health System.

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages and evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Leads and provides essential oversight to a team of cross-region Graphic Design Strategists responsible for designing effective materials for the Enterprise, including advertising, outdoor, collateral for patients and health education and information, signage, wayfinding, environmental graphics, digital media such as social and website graphics, patient and referral magazines, premium items and apparel, events and sponsorships, foundation and donor materials, referral marketing, and clinical publications for regional and national academic audiences, all to meet the strategic marketing and business objectives and needs of the Health System.
  • Provides insightful and meaningful brand direction both to Brand and Graphic Design leadership and the managed team and is a working art director themselves. Responsible for training and managing design staff to optimal performance, quality, brand adherence, and deadlines.
  • Reviews all work created by team, editing and provided feedback, and giving guidance and coaching.
  • Mentors and coaches designers.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5-10 years
