This role is based out of our Gaithersburg facility in Maryland. This modern and vibrant scientific campus is the home of R&D and Oncology in the US and is only a short drive from Washington, DC. Who we are:
AstraZeneca's Bio-Pharmaceutical Development (BPD) department consists of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and project managers whose ambition is to transform biological molecules into life-changing medicines. Through this program, you will gain experience in the development of manufacturing processes and dosage forms for BioPharmaceutical products - everything from molecule discovery to packaging the final product.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- The BPD RAP is a 2-year program comprised of three 8-month rotational assignments in different functions of the BPD department.
- The rotational assignments are carefully tailored to enable your growth and development and provide you with both technical skills as well as a broad drug development understanding.
- You will work on challenging technical projects supporting the development of biological therapeutics in the areas of Cell Culture and Fermentation, Purification, Formulation, Delivery Devices, Manufacturing, and Analytical Sciences including Physicochemical, Bioassay Development, Biosafety, and Impurities.

Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree, or Master's level degree in any life science, or engineering-related subject awarded in 2024 or due to be awarded before September 2025 (0 years of experience required)
- Minimum 1 semester of wet lab experience
Desired Skills:
- Shown leadership (clubs, civic, etc.)
- Strong presentation/interpersonal skills
- Previous lab-based internship, research position, or co-op (industry/academia/non-profit, etc)
- Up to 2 years of post-graduate work experience

So, what's next?
All applicants are required to complete a multiple-choice online assessment. You will receive the assessment within 2 weeks of applying, and you will have 5 days to complete it.
If successful, your candidacy will potentially advance to 2 additional stages, which may include a 1-way video interview and a virtual panel interview. Please note that the panel interview stage is approximately 6 hours long (with breaks), and your attendance is required for the entire time.
The panel interview day is tentatively scheduled for the week commencing November 4th.
