Job Summary

Directly reporting to the Quality Manager, under guidance the Associate Quality Specialist will implement programs within the functional area of the Food Protection Regulatory Agency group. Implement relevant Quality and Food Safety processes in the Council Bluffs, IA plant on 2nd Shift.

You will:

• Help with designing and implementation of processes within assigned technical area(s) of responsibility.
• Participate on teams to assure implementation and adherence of QA programs and process improvement of our suppliers.
• Perform assigned technical tasks associated with department processes.
• Gather and studies data to understand trends and issues and to make decisions related to product safety and quality in areas of assigned responsibility.
• Provide technical support and analyze data in managing situations and issues relative to quality and food safety.
• Provide technical support to appropriate functions and employees to assure regulatory compliance, food safety and quality of our products.
• Work with company facilities to facilitate an ongoing relationship with packaging material suppliers.
• Evaluate effectiveness and assure continuous improvement in assigned responsibilities.

You have:

• BS in Food, Biological or Chemical Science or related field required or equivalent experience.
• 1 year industry experience required.
• Knowledge of food safety and quality systems and manufacturing processes, technologies or other relevant responsibilities.
• Familiarity in using continuous improvement tools (SPC, Capability Studies, etc.) and fundamentals.
• Knowledge of government regulatory requirements in food packaging (GFSI, FSMA, FDA, USDA)
• Demonstrated strength in setting an example for others
