Job Description:
This position will be a vital part of the EHS Operational Excellence team, focusing on identifying, collecting, and analyzing data to assess the health of our EHS programs. The role is essential in proposing strategic actions to enhance these programs in alignment with the company's priorities to accelerate (simplify, standardize, digitize), mission, and values. Additionally, the role will lead the strategy that optimizes business processes by understanding the challenges of existing processes, obtaining stakeholder feedback, reviewing incidents, and determining appropriate revised business processes. The EHS Operational Excellence team is committed to establishing governance processes that are standardized across GSE, providing visibility to risk, and enabling the company to build capabilities better and faster.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy and Governance:Lead the development and execution of the EHS Data Strategy and governance framework, empowering stakeholders to leverage data effectively.

  • Optimization of EHS Business Processes:Develop and execute the strategy for optimizing EHS business processes. Understand current process challenges through stakeholder feedback and incident reviews, and determine the appropriate revised business processes to implement.

  • Digital Tool Evaluation:Evaluate digital tool needs to ensure alignment with revised business processes, ensuring that the tools adopted enhance operational efficiencies and support EHS goals.

  • Critical Metrics Development:Lead the strategy for the development of critical metrics that measure program health, enabling leaders to take proactive action based on the health of their programs before incidents occur.

  • Training Strategy Development:Develop the strategy for global EHS training programs, ensuring that the right training is created at the appropriate levels to support compliance with EHS standards. Additionally, develop and deliver training materials aimed at enhancing data literacy and ensuring effective use of EHS data.

  • Data Metrics and KPIs:Define and manage self-service metrics, scorecards, and KPIs that drive business performance and EHS compliance.

  • Data Quality Oversight:Ensure high data quality standards are maintained and act as the EHS liaison between business units and data teams.

  • EHS Scorecard Management:Oversee and communicate the Company EHS Scorecard and associated metrics to ensure transparency and accountability. Manage the Scorecard with metrics and KPIs that drive the business and oversee data quality.

  • Collaboration with Business Units:Partner with various business units to identify and implement data-driven solutions that enhance EHS capabilities.

  • Execution of EHS Priorities:Participate in the execution of EHS priorities, including data literacy and governance projects, to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making.

  • Data Assessments:Conduct assessments on reports and other data sources to identify skill gaps and develop targeted interventions to improve data quality and user skills.

  • Employee Management and Development:Manage and support the development of direct-report employees. For non-direct reports, focus on capability building to enable non-technical EHS professionals to make better, faster EHS decisions.

  • GSE Capability Strategy:Develop and execute the GSE Capability Strategy to enhance operational effectiveness.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, or related technical discipline.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 7+ years of progressive EHS experience.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.

  • Experience in implementing and sustaining EHS programs with strong project management skills.

  • Ability to influence across all levels of the organization without direct authority.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detailed working knowledge of business data analysis and visualization tools.

  • Strong team leadership skills with the ability to prioritize based on customer needs and business goals.

  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated and innovative problem solver.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Direct experience managing a site or corporate-level EHS program.

  • Experience in building and maintaining data solutions that support EHS initiatives.

This role is pivotal in ensuring that our EHS programs are data-driven, aligned with our mission to achieve operational excellence, and reflective of our commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. The EHS Operational Excellence team establishes governance (structure and visibility) that allows the GSE team to design and realize the implementation of simple and intuitive systems, tools, and standards, which enable the business to operationalize and achieve EHS compliance.
