The University of Maine invites applications for an academic-year, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Kinesiology & Physical Education in the College of Education and Human Developments School of Kinesiology, Physical Education and Athletic Training beginning September 1, 2025.
The College of Education and Human Development is structured into three Schools. This position falls under the School of Kinesiology, Physical Education and Athletic Training. The programs within this School include: Exercise Science, Physical Education/Health Teacher Preparation, Athletic Training and Outdoor Leadership.
This positions primary responsibilities are teaching and conducting research in the area of biomechanics. Additional teaching may be in areas related to Kinesiology and Exercise Science more broadly. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue a focused and aggressive research agenda resulting in external funding, publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentations at the national and international level.The successful candidate will also be expected to serve on College and University-wide committees.

Qualifications:Required:
- Ph.D in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, or a related discipline by the date of hire;
- Research skills reflected in a clearly articulated research agenda;
- Evidence of a commitment to working collegially with individuals from diverse backgrounds; and
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
The preferred candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Prior experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level;
- Suitable experience and academic preparation for teaching foundational courses related to kinesiology and exercise science;
- Evidence of service and community engagement at local, state or national levels;
- Evidence of commitment to issues of diversity and multicultural education;
- Teaching experience in P-12 schools and/or higher education; and
- Experience with online teaching and integrating technology with instruction.
