Job Summary:

YouthConnect is a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston in partnership with the Boston Police Department. YouthConnect is designed to address the unique needs of urban youth who are referred to the program by Boston police officers.  Social workers assist in improving the youth’s overall behaviors and performance in school, home and community. Using YouthConnect’s four-tier service model, social workers develop and provide appropriate intervention and treatment strategies including: referrals to community based agencies, clinical case management, individual and family therapy, parental guidance and advocacy. 

An Assistant Clinical Director works collaboratively with the Clinical Director to ensure the provision of high-quality clinical work across the program.  An Assistant Clinical Director provides clinical supervision and mentorship to clinical social workers and/or Clinical Supervisors.  This position also performs key programmatic and administrative duties and is part of YouthConnect’s senior management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Attend senior management meetings.
  • Co-facilitate group supervision, when necessary, on behalf of Clinical Director.
  • Co-facilitate clinical social work trainings for staff to aid in ongoing development of staff.
  • Assist in enhancing staff’s overall clinical skills and development.
  • Provide weekly individual supervision to supervisees.
  • Supervise all 1st time home-visits and assessments with supervisees.
  • Triage all new client referrals with supervisees.
  • Monitor progress and provide clinical review of all cases and treatment plans of supervisees.
  • Provide immediate consultation and support to supervisees around client and case emergencies.
  • Facilitate higher level advocacy with the supervisors & managers of other collaterals.
  • Represent the program in higher level meetings or initiatives throughout the city in discussions around juvenile justice.
  • Monitor documentation of cases via a case management database.
  • Review program outcomes data with an ability to make overall program recommendations based on the data.
  • Provide coverage for other social workers as needed.
  • Attend meetings with other program supervisors to coordinate clinical and programmatic matters.
  • Aid in the interviewing, onboarding, and training of new staff.
  • Perform other related duties as needed and directed by the Executive Director and Clinical Director.
  • Ensure coordinated comprehensive clinical care across the program in collaboration with the Clinical Director and Clinical Supervisors.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands):

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW).
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker certification (LICSW).
  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience (clinical supervision) with demonstrated ability to provide feedback, guidance and creative leadership to direct reports.
  • 7+ years work experience with urban youth and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as being highly self-directed.
  • Excellent written, verbal & organizational skills.
  • Sense of humor and flexibility needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across cultures, ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic groups.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to perform community-based work.

Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Mon-Fri 9a-5p
Pay Range Depending on Relevant Experience & Internal Equity

Work Experience
7 years: Must have 7+ years of work experience with urban youth and their families.
